Vaastu :

Vastu Shastra is a vast ancient science of living. Firstly, God Brahma explained to Garga ,Garga to Parashara, he passed the knowledge to Bruhadradha and finally Viswakarma learned from Bruhadradha. Viswakarma spread the Vastu knowledge to the world. We have acquired the knowledge of Vastu Shastra from Vedas &Puranas; and many more ancient books reported many of ancient Rushis. Vastu principles first time found in Righveda. And which is explained in unpaved called StapatyaVeda which is part of Atharva Veda. And also found in Matsya (details of rock carving), Skanda (Principles of town planning), Agni (Residential Vastu), Vayu, Garuda, Bhavishya and Narada (Vastu for temples) puranas.

Apart from above books many more granthas, like Ramayana, Mahabharatha, ChanukyaArthashastra, Brihat Samhita, SamaranganSutradhar, VishwakarmaPrakishika&Mayamat; have covered the Vastu Shastra. Eleventh century King Bhoja Raj written Samarangan Sutradhar which is collections of vastu principles from different granthas, this book provides simple remedial measures for correction of vastu faults without damaging the constructed house. Vastu shastra originated in the vedic age and followed & developed till 13th century (during Mughals this science is diminished, but it is remained popular in south India).

Vastu has all characteristics of Science; possessing the following basics which are applicable for Vastu. Such as, Rational (based and cause & effect) Vastu is a systematic study of the geological impact of rays of sun on earth. Practicable (capable being put into practice), Vastu is practicable as it is capable of being experimented. Permanent (not bound by barriers of time), the effect of principles of Vastu is permanent. Principle (governed by principles), Vastu prescribes certain rules and regulations, which are governed by the principles based on geological conditions and the inalienable properties of the earth. Utilitarian (Useful to the society) Vastu happens to be to make the lives of the individuals on earth, more and more comfortable through habitability. And being Universal (acceptable & accessible to one and all), the science of Vastu which studies their impact on human beings also become universal. Vastu is a part of Jyotish Samhita and Jyotish is a one Vedang in Bharatiya Scriptures The word Vastu originated from the Sanskrit word “Vas” and the meaning of this word is to live life or to reside, the meaning of vastu is place where a person resides.

The origin and anatomy of Vastu shastra is based on the principle of the five elements of creation. As we know, our body is also made up of these five elements. By Incorporation and balancing of five elements during the construction of house the people will be happy by living in such proper residence and/or office/factory. Vastu is that art of house construction, which starts from North East and etc and which protects the residents of the house from natural calamities and obstructions. According to amar kosha, the land suitable for house construction is called for Vastu. According to SamaranganSutradhar the house constructed according to the principles of vastu gives all kinds of happiness, wealth, wisdom and peace. It also gives freedom from debts. By disregarding the such principles the same abode can cause undesired journeys, defamation, disappointments and unhappiness. As per Narada Samhita, that Vastu propagates the aim of health, wealth, prosperity, peace, happiness and progress of the owner of the house. So all houses, villages, towns and cities should be constructed according to the principles of vastu. This Shastra has been composed by the rishis for the benefit and progress of mankind. The basic purpose of ancient Indian Sciences such as ayurveda, joga and vastu, is to achieve respectively a balance state of body, mind and the living space, because this state of balance bestows upon us health, wealth, prosperity, happiness and much needed peace of mind.
